Storage – all you need to know!


Over the past few years the storage industry has seen a huge boom, you could not miss the rise of self storage facilities springing up in most towns and cities, however this has led to somewhat a mine field of what to do for the best when storing your belongings, so I have written some basic information on what service we provide, so you have a more informed choice…

On the face of it storage is a simple proposition, you need space, we provide it, however there are lots of choices and levels of service you will receive along with all industries, products and services available.

Our storage sprung up rapidly once we changed the company to ‘containerised’ storage, to explain this, containerised storage is not storage in shipping containers, we provide 250 cubic feet removal containers, these are purpose built containers exclusive to the removals & storage industry, very strong wooden construction allows these to be stacked within our warehouse, allowing ease of movement, flexibility and no loss of goods!


Options & Advantages…


The options with us are simple, yes you can ‘self store’ with us, you bring your belongings to us, we get the required number of empty containers out ready, you load them and complete an inventory for each container, then that’s it, we whip the container back into storage until required again. A handling fee is always charged which is kept at a minimum, and you are charged at a price per container per week at a rate depending on the amount of containers you have. You can access your belongings however we do require at least 48 hours notice.

As the containers are designed to fit into our vehicles, clearly the best option and the safest one is for us tocollect. We quote for the removal of items into storage separate, normally after conducting our free site survey, we can also then advise roughly how many containers will be used, then quote you for storage along with the removal – clearly the advantages here are obvious, the empty containers arrive at your home on removal day, our trained experienced staff load the containers and take an inventory for each, once loaded and signed for the truck returns to our depot to be unloaded by forklift and the containers stored, your belongings are not then touched until re-removal to your new location, meaning your belongings have only been handled the same as one single removal, clever eh!!

Aside from the flexibility, other advantages include security, safety & cost effectiveness – your belongings are stored in a dry environment, within a warehouse which is double lagged, total security as the building is well secured and due to the nature of the storage the containers would be very difficult for anyone to break into, our buildings are in a location close, but never advertised for added peace of mind, the buildings are alarmed and covered by CCTV, and clearly fully insured and covered by vermin control.


Pricing…


Our pricing is fair, although quoted as a ‘weekly’ rate, we charge until the end of the current month upon entry to store, then via standing order on the 1st of the month for that month. Should you exit store half way through the month you will be refunded any outstanding storage against re-removal for example to the day, so you only pay in effect for every day you are in storage, isn’t that the way it should be?

We have a price plan designed around the amount of containers you use, so the more you rent the cheaper it gets. Please enquire for full pricing.

Storage duration makes no difference, from a few weeks to years, once you are set up with us on our computerised system that is all you need, you have peace of mind we have everything under control.


Technical….


Each outside dimension of the container is approximately 8ft tall x 7ft deep x 5ft wide – which then equates to an approximate inside dimension of 250 cubic feet. We quote in cubic feet because that is what you are paying for, unlike shipping containers for example, where they are quoted in 20ft or 40ft which is purely the container length, normally sited outside, shipping containers usually have no ventilation and ‘sweat’ causing possible damp to the inside, and clearly they are only as secure as the lock on the front doors!!

Self storage facilities are great, they also quote dimensions, however this time it is in square feet, i.e.; floor space, clearly the flexibility of this sort of storage suits many, and they have deals to entice you, however ultimately you have to pay and traditionally it can end up costing a considerable sum, please do some sums before booking, and check your options!


We are coming to your area, can you accommodate?


Yes. We move many people into storage from other part of the Country and Europe, if we cannot view the property in question we will need an inventory sent down to us via email, and maybe with some pictures of the property, then we can start to price the job, and consider such options as do we bring containers to you or load them once here, as our trucks will take more belongings with no containers on board.
