As part of our campaign for excellence in our field, offering first class removal and storage services to our clients, we decided sometime back to be accredited by none other than The British Association of Removers (BAR) was clearly the only logical step for the company.

Expansion actually seemed to get in the way of this, along with recession, actually gaining our application and managing to get it submitted was hard enough, but to enter into the strict arena that is the BAR application process was not going to be a walk in the park.

Luckily the company already had gained respect from many potential movers across the country and Europe and advice was never far away, our paperwork process was seriously brushed up on as well as our Health & Safety and security, all of which are being assessed now on a continual basis, ensuring that our staff, visitors and clients remain safe.

Way back in March 2010 our premises were inspected by the QA representative for BAR, although we did meet the criteria in many ways there were a few things we actually fell down on. Still, it’s a learning curve, and we are never afraid to learn and listen, which we did, ensuring we had adequate vermin control in the warehouse, provided BAR standard training to our staff, and purchasing a new forklift were just some of the areas we had to cover – this was certainly serious stuff which cost the company. Never the less money well spent.

Then earlier this week we were granted with our BAR membership, our certificate will be formally presented to us at the next local area meeting, of which I am very much looking forward too, and finally we are all quite proud to be a member of BAR.

What does this mean for our clients? Well quite a lot, BAR are one of the most recognised trade associations that there are, arguably the elite group of movers in the UK, we also conform along with it under the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) guide lines. Trowbridge Removal company Intransit Removals, now in its 13th year of business, has been awarded the removal and storage contract for the Wiltshire College refurbishment project, commencing this summer.
 
Company owner Derek Milner said; “We were quite proud to be approached by Wiltshire College in the first instance, after all it is quite a huge task, but one which we felt from the outset would be a challenge we could easily rise too”. The project to refurbish the College Road site clearly involves quite a job to move the contents of the college around, with the least amount of disruption possible, which will also involve up to 40 storage containers at Intransit’s huge storage facility, Derek added “We have been reasonably lucky in our decisions, least of all moving the storage side of the company for the third time in 18 months, now to a very secure location with vast scope enabling us to carry out large commercial moves such as these without effecting our ability to offer removals & storage to the usual house moving sector, we are glad that Wiltshire College have chosen a local company too”.

As peoples homes expand, with ever more belongings, at times of removal, between homes, storage maybe a requirement, since Intransit Removals and Storage started their containerised storage arm only just over 1 year ago it has gone from strength to strength and we are pleased to now announce a new 4000 square feet facility serving Melksham, Devizes and Chippenham areas of Wiltshire as well as the usual Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster, Frome and Bath areas.
 
Storage is available for sometimes the non obvious requirements, perhaps short term whilst a home is decorated, or to de-clutter the home whilst trying to sell a property, or to the long term storage, whilst abroad or between purchases, or whilst away on business, what ever the reason Intransit can help, also now branded as Instore.
 
We have scope to organise caravan and vehicle storage too, storage until a home is sought abroad, the list is endless. The 250 cubic feet removal container is the choice of the industry, these can be packed well and are charged individually, we can pack and remove at your property bringing the containers to the home for removal, sealing the containers with their own inventory for each container, with the main aim to reduce the handling of peoples goods to that of just one removal. Each container is carefully placed with our forklift operators into the warehouse, logged onto our computer system, and then forgot about until required.
 
Self storage is also available, where you bring your belongings to us and load the containers yourself, the service is the same for storage we undertake, and you are charged a handling fee for entry and exit from the store.
 
The aim of the new store like the previous of providing as flexible yet safe a storage solution as possible, with the added security of being inside a property, which is alarmed and covered by CCTV.

Intransit Removals & Storage always has a funny February, things are always quite slow. So this year we were only too pleased to help support the annual Movers & Storers Show, this year held in Telford, Shropshire for only one day, on Wednesday 17th February 2010.

We entered two trucks into their new ‘Truck Show’, not really expecting to win up against companies such as James Removals, but taking part and making the company more aware to fellow removers and suppliers in the trade is what it was all about.

We had some great feedback from people at the show, many of which had heard of our company from all parts of the country, and some real positive comments spurred us on to keep making things better, not just for us, but clearly for our clients too. Many new ideas were sought, some new equipment purchased, and some great debate listened too in the seminars.

Worth attending? Of course, no point being in a business if you can’t support the industry you belong to!!
 

      

Another start to yet another year at Intransit and still the phones ring for removals large and small, making the start to the year nearly as good as the last finished off, with the added issue that everyone is talking about - the blanket of snow covering the country!
 
We battle on though, with actually the snow itself not being such an issue as the ice it creates days later, the trucks still run as they are maintained regardless all year round by a merry band of helpers from Rygor Commercials so we know come the morning of your removal at least the truck will be reliable, even if the weather is not!
 
In 2010 we aimed to expand the company further and only 8 days into the New Year we have already been looking at an additional 18t removal truck that should be with us in weeks. We are also looking at more storage space, more staff, and more of everything certainly not less, to enable us to do this we need help from you, simply by providing your local independent removal and storage professionals with the work in the first instance!!

Most people think that Christmas time is slow where house moving is concerned. After all, who would want to move at Christmas?
 
Wrong!
 
Christmas is traditionally our busiest time of year, with people trying all they can to move on the weeks leading up to it. However, this year has broken all records and at Intransit we have never ever had so many removal enquiries, completing in excess of 100 removal quotations at one point in 3 weeks.

We think the reasons are simple with the stamp duty increasing from 1st January 2010 along with the rate of VAT, many people wish to move now to save some money. That, coupled with the banks lending more, and the lack of prime professional removers, has led to a sharp increase in demand - one which we rise to the challenge of and succeed every single time.

Every removal is important to us and, unlike many of our competitors, we do not let anyone down regardless of the size of removal or the amount they are paying for it. We have recently moved two families let down by local ‘removers’, and we have another two this very week. Shame on you guys, but hey all good for the Intransit steam roller!
 
We have kept mainly local removals in the Trowbridge, Bath, Melksham, Chippenham, Corsham, Radstock, Warminster and Frome areas to ensure we keep up with local demand. We have also slotted in a large office removal at the old Nestle Factory in Staverton over last weekend. We completed our yearly delivery for a major chain Christmas supplier over the past few weeks across Wiltshire using 4 trucks over 4 days, and we have a large 6 bedroom house to pack up and move from this week, some into storage but most to a new house just off the Thames embankment in Central London.

The unique look of our livery was applied to our latest truck this week to ensure we continue to spread the word of who we are, what we do but foremost to show our professional image to our potential clients. The livery is matched on everything we do, not only our growing fleet of vehicles but our company clothing, paperwork and advertising, ensuring that our clients are aware of not only what we do but how serious andprofessional we are!!

The truck was named Brenda-Maureen after the Owner’s Mum, with the fun ‘Betty Boop’ image added. At the same time the rear of the Mercedes Vito was sign written which really stands out on the black paintwork. Our thanks extend as ever to Unique Signs of Trowbridge (01225-341082).

After starting container storage earlier this year at a new facility which we outgrew by June, we are proud to finally announce we have moved again to a secure facility within Trowbridge, Wiltshire, 3 times bigger nearly than the previous building. Also, this building has its own office facilities, so the company moved finally this week (Sept 09) lock-stock to the new building, meaning everything is now under one roof. This leads to tighter control over the business, and a more rapid response to our clients' requirements.

And it does not stop there - on the same site last week the foundations started to go in for a brand new facility opening in 2010, which we hope to be moving in to in addition to the one we are in now (ideal world?), if we can secure this more staff opportunities will arise for some lucky locals!!

Our latest addition to the truck family at Intransit Removals came back from a fresh coat of paint this week! The purpose built 3x container removal truck has under gone quite a transformation since we purchased it a few months back, and is now legally on the road, however not being used until the sign writing is completed at the end of next week.
